Tsunami Relief Fund

On December 26th as news was breaking of the tragedy in Asia, NetIP-SFBA was already planning to set up an Online Relief Fund and collection boxes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

We created the NetIP-SFBA Tsunami Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for Tsunami victims in India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

We raised $20,000 - $10,000 by the chapter
with NetIP-SFBA Charitable Foundation matching
this - in only five weeks and with a grassroots approach!

1. Fundraising Approach:

• Event Fundraising at New Year's Eve partiess
• Tsunami Fundraiser in SF, 1/21, 120+ attendees
• Soccer tournament on 1/23, 60+ attendees
• Valentine Fundraiser on 2/11, 60+ attendees

2. Fund/ NGO update:
We will allocate 40% of our funds to NGOs working in India, 30% in Sri Lanka and 30% in Indonesia. We have identified:

• India - SIFFS and AIF


• Indonesia - Tzu Chi Foundation


• Sri Lanka - Rotary Club and Diaspora Flow
